Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: Before retrieving DTCs, ensure proper battery voltage exists for self-diagnostic system operation. If any DTCs are present other than those listed in DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS , see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - MPV article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.

Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Connect scan tool to DLC-2 located under left side of instrument panel. See Fig 1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check for stored DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . For trouble shooting of DTCs, see DIAGNOSTIC TESTS .

NOTE: Once repairs have been performed, DTC must be cleared from TCM memory and vehicle test driven. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES .
