Hold Indicator Light
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda Millenia and 2001 Mazda Millenia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
HOLD indicator will illuminate if a malfunction exists in A/T electronic control system.
- Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON position. Press HOLD switch and ensure HOLD indicator illuminates. If HOLD indicator does not illuminate after pressing HOLD switch, inspect HOLD switch continuity. See HOLD SWITCH . Repair or replace HOLD switch as necessary. If HOLD switch is okay, go to next step.
- Remove instrument cluster assembly. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, check for battery voltage between chassis ground and instrument cluster harness connector terminal 3A. See Figure. If battery voltage is present, leave instrument cluster disconnected and go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check for blown METER fuse (15-amp), or for open in circuit between instrument cluster and METER fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect PCM connector. Check for continuity between instrument cluster harness connector terminal 2Q and PCM harness connector terminal 2E. See Figure and Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in affected circuit between instrument cluster and PCM.
- Check for continuity between instrument cluster connector terminals 2Q and 3A. If continuity exists, check connectors, terminals and wiring harnesses for intermittent concern. Repair as necessary. If continuity does not exist, replace indicator bulb or instrument cluster as necessary.
