  1. Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON position. Press HOLD switch and ensure HOLD indicator illuminates. If HOLD indicator does not illuminate after pressing HOLD switch, remove center console to access HOLD switch connector. DO NOT disconnect HOLD switch connector. Ensure ignition switch is in ON position. Using a DVOM, backprobe harness connector. With HOLD switch in OFF position (HOLD indicator off), measure voltage between chassis ground and HOLD switch harness connector terminal "A". See Fig 1. Battery voltage should be present. Depress HOLD switch (HOLD indicator on). Zero volts should be present. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, check circuits to ground and PCM. Repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect HOLD switch connector. See Fig 1. Check for continuity between terminals "A" and "B" on HOLD switch connector. Continuity should not exist with HOLD switch in OFF position. Depress HOLD switch (ON position). Continuity should exist. If continuity is as specified, switch is okay. If continuity is not as specified, replace HOLD switch.
