O/D Off Indicator Light

NOTE:
O/D OFF indicator light will illuminate if a malfunction exists in transaxle electronic control system.
- Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON position. Press O/D OFF switch and ensure O/D OFF indicator light illuminates. If O/D OFF indicator light does not illuminate, inspect O/D OFF switch continuity. See O/D OFF SWITCH . Repair or replace O/D OFF switch as necessary. If O/D OFF switch is okay, go to next step.
- Remove instrument cluster meter hood. See Fig 1. Remove instrument cluster assembly. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a DVOM, check for battery voltage between chassis ground and instrument cluster harness connector No. 3 terminal 3N. See Fig 2. If battery voltage is present, leave instrument cluster disconnected and go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check for blown METER fuse, or for open in circuit between instrument cluster and METER fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect PCM harness connector. Check for continuity between instrument cluster harness connector No. 3 terminal 3C and PCM harness connector terminal No. 79. See Fig 2 and Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in affected circuit between instrument cluster and PCM.
- Check for continuity between instrument cluster connector No. terminals 3C and 3N. See Fig 2. If continuity exists, check connectors, terminals and wiring harnesses for intermittent concern. If continuity does not exist, replace indicator bulb or instrument cluster as necessary.
