Manifold And Tube Assembly Removal/Installation (2.3L)

NOTE: Replacement of the suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
  1. Recover the refrigerant; see REFRIGERANT SYSTEM TESTS  .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  3. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly from the A/C compressor.
    1. Loosen the bolt.
    2. Disconnect and position aside the compressor manifold and tube assembly.
    3. Discard the O-ring seals.

  4. Disconnect the manifold and tube from the receiver/drier; see SPRING LOCK COUPLING  .
    • Discard the O-ring seals.

  5. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly from the compressor to condenser discharge line and remove the compressor manifold and tube assembly.
    1. Discard the O-ring seal.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • If a new compressor manifold and tube assembly is to be installed, transfer the pressure cutoff switch to the new compressor manifold and tube assembly.
    • Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean refrigerant oil. See REFRIGERANT OIL ADDITION  .
  7. Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system. See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM TESTS  .
