Timing Belt Removal/Installation: Notes

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor.
  3. Remove the spark plugs.
  4. Remove the P/S oil pump and bracket with the oil hose still connected.
  5. Remove in the order indicated in Fig 1.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  7. Verify the air gap. See CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR .

    Specification: 

    0.5-1.5mm (0.020-0.059 in) 

  8. Start the engine and
    1. Inspect the pulleys and drive belt for runout and contact.
    2. Verify the ignition timing. See IGNITION TIMING INSPECTION .
