Ignition Timing Inspection

Perform "Engine Tune-up Preparation".
Verify that the idle speed is within the specification.
- If not as specified, adjust the idle speed. See IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT .
Specification

MTX: 550-850 (700 +/- 150) RPM

ATX: 500-800 (650 +/- 150) RPM
Connect a timing light to the high-tension lead of the No.1 cylinder.
Verify that the timing mark (yellow) is within the specification. See Fig 1.

If not as specified, inspect the following.
1. Camshaft Position Sensor
2. Crankshaft Position Sensor
3. Throttle Position Sensor
4. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
5. Neutral Switch (MTX)
6. Clutch Switch (MTX)
7. Transaxle Range Switch (ATX)
If the devices are normal, replace the PCM.

Specification

MTX: BTDC 6-18° (12 +/- 6°)/550-850 RPM

ATX: BTDC 6-18° (12 +/- 6°)/500-800 RPM
