Coolant Temperature Gauge

Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect coolant temperature sensor. Connect Gauge Tester (49 0839 285) to Red/White wire at coolant temperature sensor harness connector. Set tester at 300 ohms. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, wait 60 seconds and read gauge. Temperature gauge should read "C" (cold). Set gauge tester at 45 ohms and wait 60 seconds. Temperature gauge should read between 1/4 and 1/2 range. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Set gauge tester to 18 ohms. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, wait 60 seconds. Temperature gauge should read "H" (hot). If temperature gauge does not function as specified, go to TEST B: COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE INACCURATE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
