Removal & Installation (With Air Bag)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Deactivate air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Remove steering wheel and air bag module. See STEERING WHEEL  . Remove steering column upper and lower shrouds. Disconnect combination switch electrical connectors. Remove combination switch screws. Remove combination switch. SeeFigure .
  2. To install, ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Install combination switch. Turn clockspring connector (housing) clockwise until it stops (DO NOT  force). Return clockspring connector 2 3/4 turns counterclockwise until arrow marks are aligned.
  3. Install steering wheel, aligning reference marks made during removal. Tighten steering wheel nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
