Removal & Installation (Tracer & 323)

  1. Disconnect negative cable at battery. Remove shifter handle. Remove floor console and shift indicator. Disconnect cable at shifter. Pull carpet rearward and remove screws attaching cable to floor.
  2. Disconnect cable from transaxle. Raise vehicle and remove cable. To install, reverse removal procedure and adjust cable.
  3. Shift select lever to "N" position. Place shift lever on tranaxle in "N" position. Finger tighten lower nut until it lightly contacts cable bracket. Tighten upper nut and check shifter for proper operation. Distance required to move shifter from "N" to "P" must equal distance form "N" to "D".
