Road Test
- Before performing road test, be sure that fluid level, shift linkage, control linkage and detent cable adjustments have been checked and adjusted as needed.
- Check half-throttle upshift in "D". Transmission should start in 1st gear, shift to 2nd, and then to 3rd at shift points specified in SHIFT SPEED CHARTS .
- With transmission still in 3rd gear, depress accelerator to floor (Kickdown). Transmission should shift from 3rd to 2nd or 3rd to 1st depending on vehicle speed. Compare kickdown speeds with those in chart.
- Check closed throttle downshift from 3rd to 1st by coasting down from about 30 MPH in 3rd gear. Shift should occur within limits specified in SHIFT SPEED CHARTS .
- Shift points should be smooth and without excess shock. No excessive "creep" should be noted. A slight "creep" in each range is acceptable.
