Transmission Fluid Warmer: Installation

- Install the transmission fluid warmer and the nuts.
Torque
: 124 lb.in (14 Nm)
- Inspect the transmission fluid warmer to be sure the transmission fluid tube seal and backing ring were removed with the transmission fluid tube and are not stuck in the warmer. If the transmission fluid tube seal or backing ring is stuck in the warmer, remove the seal and backing ring.
- Inspect and lubricate the seal and backing ring.

Material
: Motorcraft® MERCON® ULV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-12-QULV (WSS-M2C949-A,) (MERCON® ULV)
- Connect the transmission-to-transmission fluid warmer tube to the transmission fluid warmer and install the stud bolt.
Torque
: 124 lb.in (14 Nm)
- Inspect and lubricate the seal and backing ring.
- Backing ring (7J324)
- Seal (7D285)
Material
: Motorcraft® MERCON® ULV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-12-QULV (WSS-M2C949-A,) (MERCON® ULV)
- Install the transmission fluid warmer-to-cooler bypass valve tube and the stud bolt and connect the wiring harness retainer.
Torque
: 124 lb.in (14 Nm)
- Connect the coolant hoses to the transmission fluid warmer and remove the hose clamps.
- Install the cooler bypass valve. Refer to: Cooler Bypass Valve
- Check the engine coolant level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, VACUUM FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check
