Pinpoint Test F : The Ignition Lock Cylinder Can Be Turned To The Off Position When The Selector Lever Is Not In Park

- F1 CHECK THE KEY REMOVAL INHIBIT SOLENOID GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPENNOTE: The following pinpoint test step uses a test lamp to simulate normal circuit loads. Use only a Rotunda Test Lamp (SGT27000) or 250- 300mA incandescent bulb test lamp. To avoid connector terminal damage, use the Rotunda Flex Probe kit for the test lamp probe connection to the vehicle. Do not use the test lamp probe directly on any connector.
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250 .
- Apply the parking brake.
- Select NEUTRAL.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Yes INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . No GO to F2. - F2 CHECK THE KEY INHIBIT SOLENOID CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Select PARK.
- Disconnect: Selector Lever C3245 (floor shift).
- Disconnect: Brake Shift Interlock Actuator C2008 (column shift).
- Measure:

Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C250-3 C3245-2 Column Shift
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C250-3 C2008-3
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to F3. No REPAIR the circuit. - F3 CHECK THE SELECTOR LEVER OR BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2008-1 Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new selector lever (floor shift) or brake shift interlock actuator (column shift). REFER to Automatic Transmission External Controls . No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
