Pinpoint Test B : Both Rear Power Windows Are Inoperative

  1. B1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE LH (LEFT-HAND) REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: LH Rear Window Control Switch C717 .

    • Ignition ON.

    • Make sure the rear passenger window lock-out switch is in the UNLOCK position.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  B2
    No  GO to  B3

  2. B2 CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504B .

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to: Front Door Window Control Switch  .
    No  REPAIR the circuit.

  3. B3 CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH POWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504B .

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  B4
    No  VERIFY the BJB fuse 14 (25A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION (EXCEPT ELECTRIC) to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.

  4. B4 CHECK THE LH (LEFT-HAND) REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to: Front Door Window Control Switch  .
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
