Pinpoint Test K : The Temperature Gauge Is Inoperative

K1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .

No GO to K2

K2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - INTRODUCTION (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) .

No GO to K3

K3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) .

No GO to K4

K4 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE OPERATION USING THE DEALER TEST MODE
- Ignition ON.
- Monitor the temperature gauge.
- Ignition OFF.
- Enter the Dealer Test Mode. REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) - SYSTEM OPERATION AND COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
- Scroll to gauge sweep.
- Monitor the temperature gauge when the gauge sweep initiates.
Does the temperature gauge start at cold (C), move to full hot (H) and return to cold (C)?

Yes Refer to PCM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING

No Refer to IPC GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING
