Thermostatic Expansion Valve Manifold and Tube Assembly - 2.3L EcoBoost (257kW/350PS) - MI4: Removal

NOTE: During the removal of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove protective materials prior to installation.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Recover the refrigerant. Refer to the appropriate Recovery procedure in SPECIFICATIONS .
Remove the cowl panel grille. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
Remove the retainers, position the tube aside and remove cowl panel bezel.

Release the tabs and position the degas bottle aside.

NOTE: Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or engine components.
1. Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at each grommet location and push straight up to release each grommet from the studs.
2. After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.

Release the tab and remove the washer bottle filler tube.

Remove the nut and position the A/C line aside.
- Make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system.

Remove the nut and position the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly aside.
- Make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system.

Remove the bolt.
Torque

: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
