Pinpoint Test M : The Blower Motor Is Inoperative: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Ford Focus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Refer to Automatic Climate Control System for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
Voltage is supplied to the blower motor relay from the BJB. When the blower motor relay coil receives a ground from the BCM, the relay coil is energized and voltage is delivered to the blower motor speed control. Power and ground for the blower motor is provided by the blower motor speed control. The HVAC control module sends a PWM signal to the blower motor speed control to control the blower speed.
BCM DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| B10AF:12 | Blower Fan Relay: Circuit Short To Battery | This DTC sets in continuous memory when the BCM senses voltage on the relay coil ground circuit when the module is grounding the circuit. |
| B10AF:14 | Blower Fan Relay: Circuit Short To Ground or Open | This DTC sets in continuous memory when the BCM senses no voltage on the relay coil ground circuit when the module is grounding the circuit. The blower is always on when the circuit is shorted to ground, always off when the circuit is open. |
HVAC DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| B10B9:00 | Blower Control: No Sub Type Information | This Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (CMDTC) and on-demand DTC sets when the HVAC control module senses no voltage on the blower motor control PWM circuit. |
