Input Shaft Seal: Removal

  1. Remove the clutch and damper unit. Refer to: Clutch and Damper Unit .
  2. Using the special tools, remove and discard the hollow input shaft seal. Use Special Service Tool: 307-673 Remover, Outer Input Shaft Seal.

  3. Remove the clutch actuator. Refer to: Clutch Actuator .
  4. Remove the bolts and the guide tube.

  5. NOTE: Take extra care not to damage the bearing.

    Using a small punch, poke a small hole in the seal. Use the General Equipment: Punch

    1. 2, 5 x 15 mm self-tapping screw. Rotate the screw by two full threads. Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver
    2. Remove the input shaft seal and remove the self-tapping screw. Use the General Equipment: Locking Pliers

  7. Inspect the input shaft case seal seat for any damage.

  8. Clean the input shaft case seal seat.
