3rd Gear Synchronizer: Installation

- Clean and lubricate the friction ring contact surface of the gear.
Material: Motorcraft® Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid / XT-11-QDC (WSS-M2C200-D2)
- Install 3rd gear.
- Install the 3rd gear friction ring.

NOTE: Use care when handling the synchronizer assembly so that the collar does not come off of the hub or the detent balls, springs and plates can fall out of the assembly.
Index mark the friction ring with the outside of the 3rd gear synchronizer collar so the one of the tabs is aligned with the insert of the synchronizer hub and press the hub on the output shaft. Use Special Service Tool: 205-199 (T83T-3132-A1) Installer, Spindle/Axle Shaft. Use the General Equipment: Hydraulic Press
- Install the outer bearing retainer.
- Using the special tool, install the bearing. Use Special Service Tool: 205-834 Installer, Drive Pinion Bearing. Use the General Equipment: Hydraulic Press
- Install a new snap ring.
- Assemble the transmission. Refer to: Transmission .
