2nd-6th Gear Synchronizer: Removal

- Compare the synchronizer friction ring clearance measured in transmission disassembly to the specification. If the clearance is not within specification, install a new synchronizer assembly. Refer to: Specifications .
Use the General Equipment: Feeler Gauge
- Compare the shift fork hub sleeve clearance measured in transmission disassembly to the specification. If the clearance is not within specification, install a new synchronizer assembly and a new shift fork. Refer to: Specifications .

- Remove the 1st-5th Gear Synchronizer. Refer to: 1st-5th Gear Synchronizer .
- Remove the 5th gear roller bearing.
- Remove the 6th gear retainer and split washer.
- Remove 6th gear.
- Remove the 6th gear bearing.
- Remove the 6th gear friction rings.
- Remove and discard the 2-6 synchronizer snap ring.
- Remove the 2-6 synchronizer hub and collar assembly and 2nd-reverse gear. Use Special Service Tool: 307-581 Manual lever seal installer. Use the General Equipment: Bearing Separator. Use the General Equipment: Hydraulic Press
- Disassemble the 2-6 synchronizer hub and collar assembly, 3-piece friction ring assembly and the face bearing from the 2nd-reverse gear assembly.

- 2nd-reverse gear
- Remove the dual roller bearing.
