1st-5th Gear Synchronizer: Installation

- Clean and lubricate the friction ring contact surface of 5th gear.
Material: Motorcraft® Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid / XT-11-QDC (WSS-M2C200-D2)
- Install 5th gear.
- Install the friction rings on 5th gear.
- Inner friction ring
- Outer friction ring

NOTE: Use care when handling the synchronizer assembly so that the collar does not come off of the hub or the detent balls, springs and plates can fall out of the assembly.
Index mark the outer friction ring with the outside of the 1-5 synchronizer collar so the one of the tabs is aligned with the insert of the synchronizer hub and press the hub on the output shaft. Use Special Service Tool: 205-199 (T83T-3132-A1) Installer, Spindle/Axle Shaft. Use the General Equipment: Hydraulic Press
- Install a new 1-5 synchronizer snap ring.
- Install the 1st gear friction ring.
- Install the 1st gear roller bearing.
- Clean and lubricate the friction ring contact surface of 1st gear.
Material: Motorcraft® Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid / XT-11-QDC (WSS-M2C200-D2)
- Install 1st gear.
- Install the thrust washer.
- Install the outer bearing retainer.
- Using the special tool, install the bearing. Use Special Service Tool: 205-834 Installer, Drive Pinion Bearing. Use the General Equipment: Hydraulic Press
- Install a new snap ring.
- Assemble the transmission. Refer to: Transmission .
