Test I: Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative/Erratic

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record continuous Front Electronic Module (FEM) and Rear Electronic Module (REM) DTCs. Clear FEM and REM DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform FEM and REM self-test. If no FEM and REM DTCs are retrieved, go to next step. If any FEM or REM DTCs are retrieved, repair code related problems.   2. Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster active command WARNING LAMPS AND CHIMES. Trigger ALL LAMPS to ON. If door ajar indicator illuminates, repair courtesy light malfunction. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - LS article. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, replace instrument cluster.
