Test U: Cruise Control Indicator Never/Always On
- Test drive vehicle and observe speedometer operation and test cruise control operation. If speedometer and cruise control operate properly, go to next step. If cruise control does not operate properly, repair cruise control system concern. See CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM - LS article. If speedometer does not operate properly, perform TEST G: SPEEDOMETER INOPERATIVE .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster active command WARNING LAMPS AND CHIMES. Trigger ALL LAMPS ON, then OFF. Cruise control indicator should illuminate when triggered ON and should not illuminate when triggered OFF. If cruise control indicator operate as specified, proper cruise control signal is not being received from PCM over bus. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS - LS article. If cruise control indicator does not operate as specified, replace instrument cluster.
