Test O: Traction Control Warning Display Never/Always On

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record continuous instrument cluster DTCs. Clear instrument cluster DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If no instrument cluster DTCs are retrieved, go to next step. If any instrument cluster DTCs are retrieved, repair code related problems. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster active command WARNING LAMPS AND CHIMES. Trigger ALL LAMPS ON, then OFF. Traction control warning display should illuminate when triggered ON and should not illuminate when triggered OFF. If traction control warning display operates as specified, repair traction control system concern. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If traction control display does not operate as specified, replace instrument cluster.
