Fuel Gauge

  1. Instrument cluster monitors resistance values between 11 and 168 ohms at fuel tank sending unit. Ensure proper fuel level exists.
  2. If fuel gauge does not display rapid changes in fuel level after turning ignition on, stop vehicle, and turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds, turn ignition on and recheck fuel gauge operation.
  3. Fuel tank symbol with legend will not appear if problem exists in sending unit or wiring. See Figure . A "CO" (circuit open) or "CS" (circuit short) will be displayed if FUEL REMAINING or DISTANCE TO EMPTY is selected on message center, and an open or short exists in fuel tank sending unit or wiring circuit.
  4. Check for open or short in circuit No. 29 (Yellow/White wire) of instrument cluster connector C2-1 and fuel tanking sending unit. See Figure and Figure .
