Charge System Warning
- With ignition on, battery voltage is supplied to one side of resistor in instrument cluster. Other side of resistor goes to "I" terminal of voltage regulator and instrument cluster.
- Voltage regulator sends a warning by grounding "I" terminal side of resistor, and display comes on instrument cluster. If voltage is more than 6 volts, no display exists at instrument cluster. If voltage is less than 2 volts, instrument cluster display will exist.
- If open exists in resistor, warning will be displayed. An open from instrument cluster to voltage regulator will not activate warning, and charging system will not activate.
- Ensure warning display comes on 15-20 seconds after ignition is turned on with engine off. Start engine. Warning should go out within 15 seconds.
