Pinpoint Test WB, Battery Input Warning Never Or Always Comes On

  1. Verifying Condition: Verify system for which warning comes on is operating correctly. If system is not operating correctly, repair system as necessary. If system is operating correctly, proceed to step 2).
  2. Observing Condition: Turn ignition on, and note warning operation. If warning is always on, proceed to step 3). If warning is always off, proceed to step 7).
  3. Checking Switch: Turn ignition off. This resets warning. Disconnect electrical connector from switch or module for proper warning. Turn ignition on, and note warning operation.
  4. If warning operates, proceed to step 5). If warning does not operate, service switch or module for proper warning.
  5. Checking Wiring: Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER R & I  . Check for continuity at wiring circuit at proper instrument cluster connector pin for proper warning circuit. See BATTERY INPUT WARNING  table. No continuity should exist.
    BATTERY INPUT WARNING

    Warning Connector & Pin No. Wire Color
    High Beam C1 Pin 4 (1)
    Left Turn Signal C1 Pin 6 LT GRN/WHT
    Right Turn Signal C1 Pin 5 WHT/LT BLU
    Safety Belt C1 Pin 11 DK GRN/LT GRN
    (1) Wire color may be LT GRN/BLK or BLK/LT GRN.
  6. If no continuity exists, replace instrument cluster. Install door pillar sticker to indicate instrument cluster has been replaced. If continuity exists, repair short in wiring circuit.
  7. Checking Switch: Turn ignition off. Disconnect electrical connector from switch or module for proper warning. Connect jumper wire from positive battery terminal and warning wiring circuit at switch or module.
  8. Turn ignition on, and note warning on instrument cluster. If warning operates, service switch or module. If warning does not operate, remove jumper wire, and proceed to step 9).
  9. Checking Wiring: With jumper wire removed, turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  . Check continuity between instrument cluster connector pin for proper warning circuit and connector at switch or module. See BATTERY INPUT WARNING  table. Continuity should exist.
  10. If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster. Install door pillar sticker to indicate instrument cluster has been replaced. If no continuity exists, repair open in wiring circuit.
