Function Diagnostic Mode

NOTE: Function diagnostic mode can be entered to determine if a problem exists in sending unit circuits or odometer.
  1. Depress E/M and SELECT button on message center simultaneously while turning ignition on. Instrument cluster will display upper 2 and lower 2 bars in temperature gauge or fuel gauge if a problem exists in corresponding sending unit or wiring circuit. See Fig 1 .

  2. Temperature symbol with legend or fuel tank symbol with legend will not appear if problem exists in corresponding sending unit or wiring circuit. See Fig 1 .
  3. A display "CO" (circuit open or resistance higher than 181 ohms) or "CS" (circuit short or resistance less than 5 ohms) will be displayed if FUEL REMAINING or DISTANCE TO EMPTY is selected on message center, and open or short exists in fuel tank sending unit or wiring circuit. See Fig 1 .
  4. Instrument cluster displays information in center display. Information includes a number in speedometer display and 2 numbers in odometer display (one on left and one on right).
  5. If any of displayed information in center display is flashing, instrument cluster is defective, and should be replaced. If instrument cluster is replaced, ensure symptoms no longer exist. If symptoms exist, perform function diagnostic mode again.
