Outside Air Temperature
Outside air temperature is displayed in English or Metric units. Initial outside air temperature displayed when ignition is turned on is determined by following conditions:
- If new measured temperature is lower than value stored with ignition on, new value will be displayed.
- If new measured temperature is higher than value stored with ignition off, value displayed will depend on engine temperature. If engine is cold, displayed temperature will be updated to the new, higher value. If engine is warm, value displayed will be the same as value stored with ignition off.
Displayed temperature is updated from initial value, depending on vehicle speed and if outside temperature is different than displayed value. If outside temperature is higher than displayed value, display will advance one degree per minute with vehicle speed less than 15 MPH. If outside temperature is less than displayed value, the value will decrease in proportion of temperature difference. If excessively high or low temperatures are displayed, wiring circuit or sending unit is defective.
