Installation [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH

      *a Matchmark - -
      1. Install the lock nut and tie rod assembly LH to the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly until the matchmarks are aligned.

        HINT: 

        After adjusting the toe-in, tighten the lock nut.

  2. INSTALL TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH 
  3. INSTALL RACK AND PINION POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut secured.

    Torque: 88 N.m (897 kgf/cm, 65 ft.lbf) 

  4. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR WITH FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY

      1. Install the front stabilizer bar with 2 front stabilizer link assemblies to the front frame assembly with the 4 bolts.

        Torque: 44 N.m (449 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

        NOTE:

        Temporarily tighten the bolts in the order of (D), (C) and (B), and then fully tighten the 4 bolts in the order of (A), (B), (C), and (D).

  5. INSTALL FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [03/2024 - ]

  6. CONNECT WIRE HARNESS

      1. Install the wire harness to the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly with the 2 bolts.

        Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

      2. Connect the wire harness connector to the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly.

        HINT: 

        Make sure that the connector is fully inserted before rotating the lock lever to engage the lock.

  7. INSTALL STEERING GEAR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. for T24A-FTS:

      1. Install the steering gear heat insulator to the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly with the 3 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

        Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf) 

    2. except T24A-FTS:

      1. Install the steering gear heat insulator to the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly with the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

        Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf) 

  8. INSTALL ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE 

    for A25A-FKS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24

    for T24A-FTS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28 [11/2021 - 03/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28 [03/2023 - ]

    for A25A-FXS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21 [03/2024 - ]

  9. CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH

      1. Connect the tie rod assembly LH to the steering knuckle LH with the nut.

        Torque: 49 N.m (500 kgf/cm, 36 ft.lbf) 

        NOTE:

        Do not damage the ball joint dust cover.

      2. for Nut Type A:

        Install a new clip.

        NOTE:

        Further tighten the nut up to 60° if the holes for the clip are not aligned.

      3. for Nut Type B:

        Install a new cotter pin.

        NOTE:

        Further tighten the nut up to 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

  10. CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH 
  11. CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

      *a Matchmark - -
      1. Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and rack and pinion power steering gear assembly.
      2. Connect the steering intermediate shaft assembly to the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly.
      3. Install a bolt.

        Torque: 35 N.m (357 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf) 

  12. UPDATE ECU SECURITY KEY 
    1. If the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly has been replaced, perform Update ECU security key.

      Refer to UPDATE ECU SECURITY KEY [11/2021 - ]

  13. ECU CONFIGURATION 
    1. If the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly has been replaced, perform ECU configuration.

      Refer to ECU CONFIGURATION [11/2021 - ]

  14. POWER STEERING ECU INITIAL SETTING 

    Refer to POWER STEERING ECU INITIAL SETTING [11/2021 - ] 

  15. AUTOMATIC RACK CENTERING 

    Refer to AUTOMATIC RACK CENTERING [11/2021 - ] 

  16. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2021 - 03/2023] , or refer to INSTALLATION [03/2023 - 03/2024] , or refer to INSTALLATION [03/2024 - ]

  17. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    Refer to ADJUSTMENT [11/2021 - ]

  18. FULLY TIGHTEN TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH

      *a Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length - -
      1. Using SST, tighten the tie rod assembly LH lock nuts.
        • SST: 09612-24014 

        Specified Tightening Torque 

        Torque: 88 N.m (897 kgf/cm, 65 ft.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

          Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2021 - ]

        • When using SST (fulcrum length of 52 mm (2.05 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 255 mm (10.04 in.)): 73 N.m (744 kgf/cm, 54 ft.lbf)
