Removal [09/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE CONVERTER WITH CATALYST ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2023 - ]

  2. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET CAP 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 54
  3. INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 55
  4. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 57

  5. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SETTING BOLT

      1. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to the 6 drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolts and remove each drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt while holding the crankshaft pulley set bolt with a wrench.

        HINT: 

        There will be one black colored drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt.

  6. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  7. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  8. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE ASSEMBLY 
    HINT: 
    Use a container to catch any coolant which flows out of the water by-pass hose assembly and transmission oil cooler.

  9. REMOVE VACUUM HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  10. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  11. REMOVE STEERING GEAR HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [09/2023 - 12/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [12/2023 - ]

  12. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE

      Release the lock Rotating the lock lever
      1. Disengage the 3 clamps.
      2. Disengage the claw, rotate the lock lever and disconnect the transmission wire connector.
      3. Remove the bolt.
      4. Disengage the 2 clamps.
      5. Release the lock, rotate the lock lever and disconnect the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly connector.
      6. Disconnect the 2 shift control actuator assembly connectors.
      7. Remove the 2 bolts.
      8. Disengage the 4 clamps.
  13. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 67

  14. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 68

  15. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

      1. Support the automatic transaxle assembly with a transmission jack.
        NOTE:

        Secure the automatic transaxle assembly to the transmission jack using a suitable adapter, such as a rope or attachment.

      2. Remove the 8 bolts and automatic transaxle assembly from the engine assembly.
        NOTE:

        To prevent damage to the 2 knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transaxle assembly and engine assembly.

  16. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY

  17. REMOVE NO. 1 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP 

    See step  12

  18. DISCONNECT INLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER HOSE 
    See step  14
  19. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER HOSE 
    HINT: 
    Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the inlet No. 1 oil cooler hose and No. 1 oil cooler outlet tube sub-assembly.

  20. DISCONNECT OUTLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER HOSE

  21. REMOVE OUTLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER HOSE 
    HINT: 
    Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the outlet No. 1 oil cooler hose and oil cooler union sub-assembly.

      1. Using a screwdriver, remove the breather plug hose from the No. 1 breather plug (ATM).
        NOTE:

        Be careful not to damage the No. 1 breather plug (ATM).

      1. Remove the breather plug sub-assembly from the breather plug hose.
        NOTE:

        Be careful not to damage the breather plug sub-assembly.

      1. Using 2 nuts, remove the 4 transfer and transaxle setting stud bolts from the automatic transaxle assembly.
  34. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  35. INSPECT DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
