Removal [09/2023 - ]: Procedure
- REMOVE CONVERTER WITH CATALYST ASSEMBLY
Refer to REMOVAL [09/2023 - ]
- REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET CAP
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 54 - INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 55 - REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 57
- REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SETTING BOLT
- Turn the crankshaft to gain access to the 6 drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolts and remove each drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt while holding the crankshaft pulley set bolt with a wrench.
HINT:
There will be one black colored drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt.
- Turn the crankshaft to gain access to the 6 drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolts and remove each drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt while holding the crankshaft pulley set bolt with a wrench.
- REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER

- REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17
- DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE ASSEMBLY
HINT:
Use a container to catch any coolant which flows out of the water by-pass hose assembly and transmission oil cooler. - REMOVE VACUUM HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE STEERING GEAR HEAT INSULATOR
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [09/2023 - 12/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [12/2023 - ]
- DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
Release the lock Rotating the lock lever - Disengage the 3 clamps.
- Disengage the claw, rotate the lock lever and disconnect the transmission wire connector.
- Remove the bolt.
- Disengage the 2 clamps.
- Release the lock, rotate the lock lever and disconnect the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly connector.
- Disconnect the 2 shift control actuator assembly connectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disengage the 4 clamps.
- REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 68
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
- Support the automatic transaxle assembly with a transmission jack.NOTE:
Secure the automatic transaxle assembly to the transmission jack using a suitable adapter, such as a rope or attachment.
- Remove the 8 bolts and automatic transaxle assembly from the engine assembly.NOTE:
To prevent damage to the 2 knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transaxle assembly and engine assembly.
- Support the automatic transaxle assembly with a transmission jack.
- REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE NO. 1 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP

- DISCONNECT INLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER HOSE
See step 14 - REMOVE INLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER HOSE
HINT:
Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the inlet No. 1 oil cooler hose and No. 1 oil cooler outlet tube sub-assembly. - DISCONNECT OUTLET NO. 1 OIL COOLER HOSE

HINT:
Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the outlet No. 1 oil cooler hose and oil cooler union sub-assembly. - REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL(ATF WARMER) COOLER

- REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET
- REMOVE BREATHER PLUG HOSE
- REMOVE UPPER TRANSAXLE CASE COVER
- REMOVE TRANSFER AND TRANSAXLE SETTING STUD BOLT (for UA81F)
- INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY

- INSPECT DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY
