Removal [09/2023 - ]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION NOTE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE ECM

- DISCONNECT WATER HOSE WITH FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
- REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR BRACKET
- REMOVE BATTERY COVER LOCK STRIKER WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- INSTALL INVERTER TERMINAL COVER WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- DISCONNECT INLET NO. 1 INVERTER COOLING HOSE
- Release the hose clip and disconnect the inlet No. 1 inverter cooling hose from the EV converter assembly as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
Apply insulating tape to the pipes and in the disconnected hoses, or cover the pipes and hoses with plastic bags to prevent foreign matter from entering the cooling system and to prevent coolant from spilling near the EV converter assembly.
- Release the hose clip and disconnect the inlet No. 1 inverter cooling hose from the EV converter assembly as shown in the illustration.
- DISCONNECT NO. 1 INVERTER COOLING HOSE ASSEMBLY
- Release the hose clip and disconnect the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly from the EV converter assembly as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
Apply insulating tape to the pipes and in the disconnected hoses, or cover the pipes and hoses with plastic bags to prevent foreign matter from entering the cooling system and to prevent coolant from spilling near the EV converter assembly.
- Release the hose clip and disconnect the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly from the EV converter assembly as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE AND INVERTER STIFFENER
- REMOVE BATTERY COVER LOCK STRIKER WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- REMOVE UPPER INVERTER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- DISCONNECT FLOOR UNDER WIRE WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- Using an insulated tool, remove the 4 bolts.
*a Waterproof Seal - - - Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the floor under wire from the EV converter assembly.NOTE:
- Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the EV converter assembly.
- Do not touch the waterproof seal or terminals of the connector.
- Do not damage the terminals, connector housing or EV converter assembly during disconnection.
- Insulate the disconnected terminals with insulating tape.
- Cover the hole where the cable was connected with tape (non-residue type) or equivalent to prevent entry of foreign matter.
- Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the floor under wire from the EV converter assembly.
- REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- REMOVE EV CONVERTER ASSEMBLY WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
NOTE:Cover the opening of the EV converter assembly or transaxle with tape or an equivalent (non-residual type) to prevent foreign matter from entering.
*a PN Terminals - - - Using an insulated tool, remove the 2 bolts.NOTE:
Do not excessively tighten the PN terminals.
- Using an insulated tool, remove the 2 bolts.
Remove in this Direction (1) Remove in this Direction (2) - Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the bolt and disengage the clamp.
- Pull out the EV converter assembly in the direction shown in the illustration.NOTE:
- Pull the EV converter assembly out with the EV converter assembly completely removed from the PIN terminals, so that the PIN terminals are not damaged or bent.
*1 EV Converter Assembly *2 Hybrid Motor Control Inverter assembly *3 O-Ring *a PN Terminals - When removing the EV converter assembly from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the surrounding parts.
- To prevent damage, do not hold the coolant pipes, brackets and connectors when lifting up the EV converter assembly.
- To prevent damage caused by static electricity, do not touch the terminals of connectors on the EV converter assembly side.
- When handling the EV converter assembly, do not hold it from the positions marked in the illustration.
- When storing the EV converter assembly, do not support it from positions prohibited from direct placement, and ensure that the lower surface is not damaged.
Positions Prohibited From Direct Placement
- Pull the EV converter assembly out with the EV converter assembly completely removed from the PIN terminals, so that the PIN terminals are not damaged or bent.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the air conditioning wire and remove the EV converter assembly.
- REMOVE CONVERTER COVER
- REMOVE O-RING

Although the O-ring is reusable, replace it if it is damaged.Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14
- REMOVE INVERTER COVER GASKET

Although the inverter cover gasket is reusable, replace it if it is damaged. - REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL GASKET

Although the inverter terminal gasket is reusable, replace it if it is damaged.
