Installation [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET

      *a Stopper - -
      Bolt (A) Bolt (B)
      1. Install the 8 wire harness clamp brackets to the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly with the 8 bolts.

        Bolt (A) 

        Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

        Bolt (B) 

        Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        Align the stopper on the wire harness clamp bracket as shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL HOSE BRACKET (for HEV Model)

      *a Stopper - -
      1. Install the hose bracket to the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly with the bolt.

        Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        Align the stopper on the hose bracket as shown in the illustration.

  3. INSTALL HV BATTERY CHARGER WIRE (for HEV Model) 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
  4. INSTALL NO. 3 HIGH VOLTAGE FLOOR UNDER WIRE (for PHEV Model) 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1
  5. INSTALL UPPER INVERTER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    for PHEV Model:
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
    for 1Motor-HEV Model:
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5
  6. INSTALL MOTOR MOUNTING INSULATOR LH

      Bolt (A) Bolt (B)
      Bolt (C) - -
      1. Install the motor mounting insulator LH to the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly with the 3 bolts.

        Torque: 85 N.m (867 kgf/cm, 63 ft.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        Tightening order: Temporarily tighten bolt (A) → Fully tighten bolt (B) → Fully tighten bolt (C) → Fully tighten bolt (A)

  7. INSTALL REAR MOTOR MOUNTING INSULATOR RH

      Bolt (C) - -
      1. Install the rear motor mounting insulator RH to the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly with the 3 bolts.

        Torque: 85 N.m (867 kgf/cm, 63 ft.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        Tightening order: Temporarily tighten bolt (A) → Fully tighten bolt (B) → Fully tighten bolt (C) → Fully tighten bolt (A)

  8. INSTALL MOTOR MOUNTING STAY RH (for HEV Model)

      Bolt (A) Bolt (B)
      1. Install the motor mounting stay RH to the rear motor mounting insulator RH and rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly with the 2 bolts.

        Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        Tightening order: Temporarily tighten bolt (A) → Fully tighten bolt (B) → Fully tighten bolt (A)

  9. INSTALL NO. 1 INVERTER COOLING HOSE ASSEMBLY (for HEV Model)

      *1 Retainer - -
      *a Upper Side of Vehicle *b 107.2°
      *c 2 to 7 mm (0.0787 to 0.276 in.) *d Paint Mark
      *e 120° (Claw of Clip Location) - -
      Push in the retainer - -
      1. Engage the 3 clamps to install the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly.
      2. Connect the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly to the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler and slide the clip to secure it.
        NOTE:
        • Make sure to slide the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly until it contacts the hose stopper of the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler.
        • Make sure to align the paint mark of the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly with the paint mark of the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler.
        • Make sure that the claws of the clip are within the location shown in the illustration.
      3. Connect the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly to the EV motor control inverter assembly and lock the hose with the retainer as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:
        • Push in the retainer until a click sound is heard.
        • Pull the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly to check that it is securely connected.
        • If there is foreign matter on the retainer, clean it by hand with water.
        • Until immediately before connecting the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly, keep plastic bags attached to the pipes to prevent foreign matter from entering the coolant path.
  10. INSTALL NO. 4 INVERTER COOLING PIPE (for PHEV Model)

      *1 Retainer - -
      *a Upper Side of Vehicle *b 107.2°
      *c 2 to 7 mm (0.0787 to 0.276 in.) *d Paint Mark
      *e 120° (Claw of Clip Location) - -
      Push in the retainer - -
      1. Install the No. 4 inverter cooling pipe with the bolt.

        Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf) 

      2. Connect the No. 13 inverter cooling hose to the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler and slide the clip to secure it.
        NOTE:
        • Make sure to slide the No. 13 inverter cooling hose until it contacts the hose stopper of the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler.
        • Make sure to align the paint mark of the No. 13 inverter cooling hose with the paint mark of the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler.
        • Make sure that the claws of the clip are within the location shown in the illustration.
      3. Install the bolt.

        Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf) 

      4. Connect the No. 2 inverter cooling inlet hose to the EV motor control inverter assembly and lock the hose with the retainer as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:
        • Push in the retainer until a click sound is heard.
        • Pull the No. 2 inverter cooling inlet hose to check that it is securely connected.
        • If there is foreign matter on the retainer, clean it by hand with water.
        • Until immediately before connecting the No. 2 inverter cooling inlet hose, keep plastic bags attached to the pipes to prevent foreign matter from entering the coolant path.
      5. Connect the clamp.
  11. INSTALL NO. 1 TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER HOSE ASSEMBLY

      *1 Retainer - -
      *a 2 to 7 mm (0.0787 to 0.276 in.) *b Paint Mark
      *c 120° (Claw of Clip Location) - -
      Push in the retainer - -
      1. Engage the 2 clamps to install the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly.
      2. Connect the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly to the EV motor control inverter assembly and lock the hose with the retainer as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:
        • Push in the retainer until a click sound is heard.
        • Pull the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly to check that it is securely connected.
        • If there is foreign matter on the retainer, clean it by hand with water.
        • Until immediately before connecting the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly, keep plastic bags attached to the pipes to prevent foreign matter from entering the coolant path.
      3. Connect the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly to the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler and slide the clip to secure it.
        NOTE:
        • Make sure to slide the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly until it contacts the hose stopper of the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler.
        • Make sure to align the paint mark of the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly with the paint mark of the rear transaxle motor cooling cooler.
        • Make sure that the claws of the clip are within the location shown in the illustration.
  12. INSTALL FRAME WIRE 
    1. for HEV Model:

      Push down the lever until the sound of the claw connecting is heard - -
      1. Engage the 8 clamps to install the frame wire.
      2. Connect the 2 inverter connectors.
        NOTE:

        Push down the lever until the sound of the inverter connector contacting the claw can be heard.

      3. Connect the oil pump connector.
      4. Connect the motor resolver and transmission fluid temperature sensor connector.
      5. Connect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.
      6. Connect the frame wire with the 2 nuts.

        Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

    2. for PHEV Model:

      Push down the lever until the sound of the claw connecting is heard - -
      1. Engage the 8 clamps to install the frame wire.
      2. Connect the 2 inverter connectors.
        NOTE:

        Push down the lever until the sound of the inverter connector contacting the claw can be heard.

      3. Connect the oil pump connector.
      4. Connect the motor resolver and transmission fluid temperature sensor connector.
      5. Connect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.
      6. Connect the frame wire with the 2 nuts.

        Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  13. INSTALL REAR TRANSAXLE WITH MOTOR AND INVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a mini crane and 2 belt slings, hold the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly.
      WARNING:
      • Do not lift the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly more than necessary.
      • When lifting the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly, make sure it is well balanced.
      NOTE:
      • Lightly shake the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly by hand to make sure it is securely held while performing work.
      • Do not shake the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly excessively while holding it.
    2. for HEV Model:

      *1 Upper Motor Mounting Stopper *2 Lower Motor Mounting Stopper
      Bolt (A) Bolt (B)
      1. Temporarily install the 2 upper motor mounting stoppers, 2 lower motor mounting stoppers and rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly to the rear suspension member sub-assembly with 4 new bolts.

        HINT: 

        Bolt Bolt Length
        (A) 110 mm (4.33 in.)
        (B) 45 mm (1.77 in.)
      2. Fully tighten the 2 bolts (B).

        Torque: 130 N.m (1326 kgf/cm, 96 ft.lbf) 

      3. Fully tighten the 2 bolts (A).

        Torque: 91 N.m (928 kgf/cm, 67 ft.lbf) 

    3. for PHEV Model:

      *1 Upper Motor Mounting Stopper *2 Lower Motor Mounting Stopper
      Bolt (A) Bolt (B)
      1. Temporarily install the 2 upper motor mounting stoppers, 2 lower motor mounting stoppers and rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly to the rear suspension member sub-assembly with 4 new bolts.

        HINT: 

        Bolt Bolt Length
        (A) 110 mm (4.33 in.)
        (B) 45 mm (1.77 in.)
      2. Fully tighten the 2 bolts (B).

        Torque: 130 N.m (1326 kgf/cm, 96 ft.lbf) 

      3. Fully tighten the 2 bolts (A).

        Torque: 91 N.m (928 kgf/cm, 67 ft.lbf) 

  14. CONNECT FRAME WIRE 
  15. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    When replacing the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly, perform "16.ECU CONFIGURATION" after connecting the cable to the auxiliary battery terminal.

    for PHEV Model:

    for 1Motor-HEV Model:

    Refer to INSTALLATION [09/2023 - ]

  16. ECU CONFIGURATION 
    NOTE:

    Perform the ECU configuration after replacing the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly.

    Refer to ECU CONFIGURATION [09/2023 - ]

  17. PERFORM RESOLVER LEARNING 
    NOTE:

    If the rear transaxle with motor and inverter assembly have been replaced, make sure to perform resolver learning.

    for PHEV Model:
