Removal [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM RESOLVER INITIALIZATION 
    NOTE:

    If it is necessary to replace the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly, make sure to perform resolver initialization before starting work.

    Refer to UTILITY [12/2023 - ]

  2. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]

  3. INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 63
  4. REMOVE STEERING GEAR HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  5. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    NOTE:

    Cover the hole where the engine wire was connected with tape or equivalent (non-residue type) to prevent entry of foreign matter, water, etc.

      1. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly.

        HINT: 

        Release the lock before rotating the lock lever.

      2. Remove the 3 bolts to disconnect the engine wire.
      3. Disengage the 3 clamps to disconnect the engine wire.

  6. DISCONNECT NO. 1 TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER HOSE ASSEMBLY

  7. DISCONNECT NO. 2 MOTOR COOLING HOSE 

    See step  4

  8. DISCONNECT NO. 1 MOTOR COOLING HOSE 

    See step  5

  9. REMOVE TRANSAXLE UNDER STOPPER BRACKET

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 MOTOR COOLING PIPE

      1. Loosen the flare nut of the No. 1 motor cooling pipe and disconnect the No. 1 motor cooling pipe from the union.
      2. Remove the bolt, No. 2 oil cooler tube clamp and No. 1 motor cooling pipe from the No. 2 motor cooling pipe.
  11. DISCONNECT NO. 3 MOTOR COOLING HOSE

  12. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  13. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR

  16. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

  19. REMOVE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • To avoid damaging the knock pins, do not pry between the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly and engine assembly.
    • To prevent the splines of the transmission input damper assembly from becoming misaligned, do not allow the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly to hit the transmission input damper assembly during hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly removal and installation.

      1. Using an E10 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

  30. REMOVE TRANSAXLE BREATHER PLUG 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the transaxle breather plug is necessary.

  31. REMOVE TRANSAXLE HOUSING TUBE CONNECTOR 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the transaxle housing tube connector or O-ring is necessary.

  32. REMOVE SHIFT CONTROL ACTUATOR BRACKET 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the shift control actuator bracket is necessary.

    1. Remove the shift control actuator assembly.
