Removal [09/2014 - 11/2017]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION NOTE:
After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2014 - 10/2015] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2015 - 11/2017]
- REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY
Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 11/2017]
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [09/2014 - 10/2015] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [10/2015 - 11/2017]
- REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [09/2014 - 10/2015] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [10/2015 - 11/2017]
- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [09/2014 - 10/2015] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2015 - 11/2017]
- DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

- REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

- REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
- REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER
- REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SETTING BOLT
- REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY
- SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
- Support the automatic transmission assembly with a transmission jack.NOTE:
- In order to protect the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly, place attachments on the transmission jack.
- Make sure that the attachments and automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly are centered on the transmission jack.
- To prevent the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly from being deformed, do not place any attachments under the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.
- Support the automatic transmission assembly with a transmission jack.
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 EARTH WIRE
- DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS
- Tilt down the automatic transmission assembly.NOTE:
Make sure that the engine assembly does not contact the vehicle body when tilting the automatic transmission assembly.
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
*a Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly Connector *b Transmission Wire Connector *c Nut *d Breather Plug Hose - Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
HINT:
Disengage the claw, pull down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.
- Disengage the 4 clamps.
- Disconnect the breather plug hose from the wire harness.
- Remove the nut and wire harness from the automatic transmission assembly.
- Tilt down the automatic transmission assembly.
- DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE
- Remove the bolt to disconnect the hose clamp from the automatic transmission assembly.
*1 Hose Clamp - Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the water by-pass hose and No. 2 water by-pass hose from the transmission oil cooler.
HINT:
Use a container to catch any coolant that flows out of the water by-pass hose and No. 2 water by-pass hose.
- Remove the bolt to disconnect the hose clamp from the automatic transmission assembly.
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transmission assembly from the engine assembly.NOTE:
- Secure the automatic transmission assembly to the transmission jack using a belt, etc. to prevent it from falling.
- To prevent damage to the 2 knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transmission assembly and engine assembly.
- Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transmission assembly from the engine assembly.
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
- INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
