Installation [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Install the front axle hub sub-assembly to the steering knuckle with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 68.6 N.m (700 kgf/cm, 51 ft.lbf) 

  2. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for AWD) 
    1. Install the front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover to the steering knuckle with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 68.6 N.m (700 kgf/cm, 51 ft.lbf)

      *a Matchmark
      NOTE:

      Align the matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly and front axle hub sub-assembly

  3. INSTALL FRONT DISC (for AWD) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for AWD) 
    1. Install the front disc brake caliper assembly to the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 135 N.m (1377 kgf/cm, 100 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Do not twist the front flexible hose when installing the front disc brake caliper assembly.
      • Make sure that there is no foreign matter on the threads of the bolt.
      • If a bolt is deformed or damaged, replace it.
      • Do not overtighten the bolts because the steering knuckle is made of aluminum and may be damaged.
  5. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT (for AWD) 
    1. Clean the threaded parts on the front drive shaft assembly and a new front axle shaft nut using non-residue solvent.
      NOTE:
      • Be sure to perform this work even when using a new front drive shaft assembly.
      • Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign matter.
    2. Using a 30 mm socket wrench, while applying the brakes, temporarily install the front axle shaft nut.

      Torque: 294 N.m (2998 kgf/cm, 217 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Stake the front axle shaft nut after inspecting for looseness and runout in the following steps.

      HINT: 

      Keep depressing the brake pedal to prevent the front drive shaft assembly from rotating.

  6. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for AWD) 

    See step  5

  7. REMOVE FRONT DISC (for AWD) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  8. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS 

    See step  4

  9. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT 

    See step  5

  10. INSTALL FRONT DISC 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  11. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the front disc brake caliper assembly to the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 135 N.m (1377 kgf/cm, 100 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Do not twist the front flexible hose when installing the front disc brake caliper assembly.
      • Make sure that there is no foreign matter on the threads of the bolt.
      • If a bolt is deformed or damaged, replace it.
      • Do not overtighten the bolts because the steering knuckle is made of aluminum and may be damaged.
  12. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT (for AWD) 
    1. Using a chisel and hammer, stake the front axle shaft nut.

  13. CONNECT FRONT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (for 2WD) 
    1. Connect the front skid control sensor wire connector to the front axle hub sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not twist the front skid control sensor wire when installing it.

  14. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR (for AWD) 
    1. Install the front speed sensor to the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts.

      Bolt (A) 

      Torque: 6.0 N.m (61 kgf/cm, 53 in.lbf) 

      Bolt (B) 

      Torque: 8.5 N.m (87 kgf/cm, 75 in.lbf)

      NOTE:

      Do not twist the front speed sensor when installing it.

  15. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2022 - ]

  16. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE [10/2022 - ]
