Removal [12/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2021 - ]
  2. CUSTOMIZE POWER TILT AND POWER TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM 
    NOTE:

    Perform the customization settings before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Otherwise, removal of the steering column cover becomes difficult.

    HINT: Record the customization settings before changing them.
    1. Perform the customization settings.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [12/2021 - ]

    2. Move the steering wheel to its lowest and rearmost position.
  3. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - ] 

  5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

  7. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch to ON.
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly installed, with the battery connected and the ignition switch to ON.
    • When rotating the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to check the operation of the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly (checking for abnormal noise, checking the DTC, Data List, etc.), make sure to perform the inspection with the steering wheel assembly installed.

      1. Disconnect each connector from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
      2. Slide the slider to release the lock, and then disconnect the yellow airbag connector from the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

        HINT: 

        Refer to How to Connect or Disconnect Airbag Connector:

        Refer to HOW TO CONNECT OR DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR [12/2021 - ]

      3. Using pliers, support the band clamp while loosened.
      4. Detach the claw to remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.
  8. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - ]

  9. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove in this Direction - -
  10. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL LH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - ]

  11. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING D 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  12. DISCONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
  13. REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

      Slide in this Direction - -
      1. Remove the bolt and slide the steering intermediate shaft assembly.
        NOTE:

        Do not remove the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering intermediate shaft.

      2. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering intermediate shaft.
      3. Remove the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering intermediate shaft.
      4. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

        HINT: 

        Perform this procedure only when replacement of the steering intermediate shaft assembly and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly is necessary.

      5. Remove the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

        HINT: 

        Perform this procedure only when replacement of the steering intermediate shaft assembly and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly is necessary.

  14. REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT

      Slide in this Direction - -
      1. Remove the bolt and slide the steering intermediate shaft.
        NOTE:

        Do not remove the steering intermediate shaft from the steering column assembly.

      2. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and steering column assembly.
      3. Remove the steering intermediate shaft from the steering column assembly.
  15. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
