Removal [12/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2021 - ]

    NOTE:

    After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [12/2021 - ]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    • Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - ]

  3. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX 
  4. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 
    1. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  6. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH 
    1. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL 
    1. Use the same procedure described for the No. 2 instrument side panel.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  8. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:
    • When storing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side (*a) facing upward.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      *a Turns off - -
      1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
      2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
        WARNING:
        • Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
        • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      1. Disconnect the airbag connector.
        NOTE:

        When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

        HINT: 

        Refer to How to Connect or Disconnect Airbag Connector: Refer to HOW TO CONNECT OR DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR [12/2021 - ]

      2. Remove the 3 bolts.
      3. Detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.
