Removal [03/2017 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to PRECAUTION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [03/2017 - 05/2023]

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [03/2017 - 01/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [01/2021 - 05/2023]

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    WARNING:
    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  4. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]

  5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 BUMPER MOUNTING BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 33 [03/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 34 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  6. REMOVE PEDESTRIAN DETECTION CHAMBER ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    When inspect the pedestrian detection chamber assembly, do not remove the pedestrian protection sensor.

    • The installation bolt and nut for the pedestrian protection sensor is a non-reusable part.
    • To preserve the airtight seal of the pedestrian detection chamber.
    • Do not open/close or move the tightening clips of the pedestrian detection chamber and pedestrian protection sensor.
    1. Remove the bolt, nut and the pedestrian detection chamber assembly from the No. 2 front bumper mounting bracket.

      NOTE:
      • When inspect the pedestrian detection chamber assembly, do not remove the pedestrian protection sensor.
      • Do not subject the pedestrian protection sensor to any strong impact (such as dropping).
      • If the pedestrian detection sensor is subjected to any strong impact, replace the pedestrian detection chamber assembly with a new one.
      • Hold the pedestrian protection sensor so as not to damage the No. 2 front bumper mounting bracket.

      HINT: 

      Use the same procedure for the other side.

  7. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER 
    1. Remove the 4 clips.
    2. Detach the guides and remove the front bumper energy absorber from the No. 2 front bumper mounting bracket.
      NOTE:

      When remove the front energy absorber assembly, do not pull the pedestrian detection chamber.

    3. Remove the pedestrian detection chamber assembly from the front bumper energy absorber.
      NOTE:
      • When remove the pedestrian detection chamber, take care not to damage the front bumper energy absorber.
      • If the front bumper energy absorber has been damaged, replace it with a new one.
