Reassembly [09/2020 - 11/2021]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the rear bumper reinforcement sub-assembly with the 8 bolts.

      Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER 
    1. Engage the 2 guides to install the rear bumper energy absorber.

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH 
    1. Engage the guide and claw.

    2. Install the No. 1 rear bumper side support LH with the 2 screws.

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  5. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH 
    1. Engage the 4 claws.

    2. Engage the 3 clips to install the No. 2 rear bumper side support LH as shown in the illustration.

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  7. INSTALL REAR BUMPER UPPER RETAINER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  8. INSTALL REAR BUMPER UPPER RETAINER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  9. INSTALL REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  10. INSTALL REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  11. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PIECE 
    1. Engage the hook.

      *a Hook
    2. Engage the 3 claws to install the rear bumper piece.
  12. INSTALL REAR BUMPER CORNER EXTENSION LH (w/ Rear Bumper Corner Extension) 

    HINT: 

    When installing the rear bumper corner extension LH, heat the rear bumper center extension sub-assembly using a heat light.

    HEATING TEMPERATURE

    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Center Extension Sub-Assembly 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
    WARNING:
    • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts, touching the heat light may result in burns.
    • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

    NOTE:

    Do not heat the rear bumper center extension sub-assembly excessively.

    1. Clean the rear bumper center extension sub-assembly surface.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper center extension sub-assembly surface.
      2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper center extension sub-assembly.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
    2. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the rear bumper corner extension LH installation area.
      NOTE:
      • Use a clean brush or felt.
      • Do not touch the rear bumper center extension sub-assembly until the primer has dried.
    3. Remove the release paper from a new rear bumper corner extension LH.

      HINT: 

      After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

    4. Install the rear bumper corner extension LH as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Press the rear bumper corner extension LH firmly to install it.

  13. INSTALL REAR BUMPER CORNER EXTENSION RH (w/ Rear Bumper Corner Extension) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. INSTALL REAR BUMPER CENTER EXTENSION SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 4 claws.

    2. w/o Rear Bumper Corner Extension:
      1. Install the 14 clips (A).

    3. w/ Rear Bumper Corner Extension:
      1. Install the 16 clips (A).

    4. Install the rear bumper center extension sub-assembly with the 6 clips (B).
  15. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Engage the 2 claws.

    2. Install the reflex reflector assembly LH with the screw.

  16. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  17. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ARM LH 

    HINT: 

    When installing the rear bumper arm LH, heat the rear bumper cover using a heat light.

    HEATING TEMPERATURE

    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
    WARNING:
    • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts, touching the heat light may result in burns.
    • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

    NOTE:

    Do not heat the rear bumper cover excessively.

    1. Clean the rear bumper cover surface.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.
      2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
    2. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the rear bumper arm LH installation area.
      NOTE:
      • Use a clean brush or felt.
      • Do not touch the rear bumper cover until the primer has dried.
    3. Remove the release paper from a new rear bumper arm LH.

      HINT: 

      After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

    4. Install the rear bumper arm LH as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Press the rear bumper arm LH firmly to install it.

  18. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ARM RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  19. INSTALL NO. 1 MOULDING TAPE 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    1. Clean the installation surface of the No. 1 moulding tape.
      1. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.
        NOTE:
        • If there is any foreign matter on the rear bumper cover when the No. 1 moulding tape is installed, adhesion failure may occur.
        • Do not use a screwdriver or other tool to remove the double-sided tape as the rear bumper cover may be damaged, possibly leading to adhesion failure.
      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
    2. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the No. 1 moulding tape installation area.
      NOTE:
      • Use a clean brush or felt.
      • Do not touch the rear bumper cover until the primer has dried.
    3. Install a new No. 1 moulding tape.
      WARNING:
      • Do not touch the heat light, as doing so may cause in burns.
      • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

      HINT: 

      If the temperature of the No. 1 moulding tape or its installation surface on the rear bumper cover is below 15°C (59°F), adhesion failure may occur. Use a heat light to heat the No. 1 moulding tape and its installation surface on the rear bumper cover to the recommended temperature (15 to 40°C (59 to 104°F)).

      1. Remove the release paper from a new No. 1 moulding tape.

        HINT: 

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      2. Install the No. 1 moulding tape to the rear bumper cover as shown in the illustration.

        NOTE:

        If the No. 1 moulding tape has been removed, it must be replaced with a new one as it may be deformed or the strength of its adhesive may be deteriorated.

        HINT: 

        Make sure not to touch the exposed adhesive of the No. 1 moulding tape or the installation surface on the rear bumper cover.

      3. Using a squeegee, evenly press the No. 1 moulding tape to the rear bumper cover with a force of 29 N (3 kgf, 6.5 lbf) or more.

        HINT: 

        • Make sure that the corners of the No. 1 moulding tape are not damaged or peeling off.
        • After installing the No. 1 moulding tape, leave the rear bumper cover in an area with an ambient temperature of 15°C (59°F) or more for 30 minutes or more to allow the adhesive to set.
      4. Remove the protector sheet from the No. 1 moulding tape.
  20. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR BUMPER PAD 

    HINT: 

    • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
    • When installing the No. 2 rear bumper pad, heat the rear bumper cover using a heat light.

    Heating Temperature

    3. Install a new No. 2 rear bumper pad.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.
      2. Remove the release paper from the No. 2 rear bumper pad.

        HINT: 

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      3. Install the 2 No. 2 rear bumper pads as shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        • Install the No. 2 rear bumper pad along the line on the rear bumper cover.
        • Press the No. 2 rear bumper pad firmly to install it.
  21. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER PAD 

    HINT: 

    • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
    • When installing the No. 1 rear bumper pad, heat the rear bumper cover using a heat light.

    Heating Temperature

        • Install the No. 1 rear bumper pad along the line on the rear bumper cover.
        • Press the No. 1 rear bumper pad firmly to install it.
  22. INSTALL NO. 3 LUGGAGE ROOM WIRE (w/ Parking Support Brake System) 
    1. Engage the 6 clamps to install the No. 3 luggage room wire.

  23. INSTALL REAR CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER (w/ Parking Support Brake System)
