Removal [07/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. SECURE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  4. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  5. SEPARATE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  6. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - ]

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  8. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  9. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  10. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  11. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT LH 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and No. 1 side rail reinforcement LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly and vehicle body.

  13. REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the cap.

    2. Remove the nut and front stabilizer link assembly LH from the front shock absorber assembly LH.
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the boot of the ball joint.

      HINT: 

      If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench to hold the stud bolt.

  15. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  16. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  17. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  18. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  19. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts and separate the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly LH from the front lower ball joint assembly LH.

  20. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  21. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. except F-Sport

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 wire harness clamp brackets from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

    2. for F-Sport

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 wire harness clamp brackets from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

    3. Using a transmission jack and a wooden block, support the engine assembly with transaxle.

      WARNING:
      • Support the engine assembly with transaxle until the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is installed.
      • If the support is removed before the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is installed, the engine assembly with transaxle may drop.

    4. Remove the bolt and separate the engine moving control rod.

    5. Support the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with an engine lifter using 4 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.

      WARNING:
      • The front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is a very heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.
      • If the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is not securely supported, it may drop, resulting in serious injury.

      NOTE:

      Use attachments to keep the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly level.

    6. Remove the 6 bolts and front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

    7. Slowly lower the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed to the vehicle.

  22. REMOVE STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY (except F-Sport) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and steering link assembly with the No. 1 steering rack housing bracket from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

    2. Remove the No. 1 steering rack housing bracket from the steering link assembly.

  23. REMOVE STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY (for F-Sport)

      Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and steering link assembly with the steering rack housing bracket LH and steering rack housing bracket RH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

    2. Remove the steering rack housing bracket LH and steering rack housing bracket RH from the steering link assembly.

  24. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front No. 1 stabilizer bracket LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

  25. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  26. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR 
    1. Remove the front stabilizer bar with 2 front stabilizer bar bushes from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
  27. REMOVE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

  28. REMOVE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  29. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD 
    1. Remove the bolt and engine moving control rod from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

  30. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER PLATE 
    1. Remove the 2 front suspension member plates from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

  31. REMOVE HOLE PLUG 
    1. Remove the 4 hole plugs from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

      HINT: 

      There are 2 different shapes of hole plug.
