Installation [10/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    Make sure that the wire harness is not interfering with the steering column assembly.

    1. Install the steering column assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts.

      Torque: 36 N.m (367 kgf/cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

    2. Connect each connector and engage each wire harness clamp to the steering column assembly.
  3. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks and install the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to the steering column assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Install in this Direction
    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 64 N.m (653 kgf/cm, 47 ft.lbf) 

  4. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [07/2022 - ]

  5. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [07/2022 - ]

  6. INSTALL STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [07/2022 - ]

  7. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT 
    1. Engage the 3 claws to install a new No. 1 air duct as shown in the illustration.

      Install in this Direction
    2. Install the 2 bolts.
  8. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [07/2022 - ]

  9. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to INSTALLATION [07/2022 - ]

  10. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL SWITCH HOUSING WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Do not remove/install the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the auxiliary battery connected and the ignition switch to ON.
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly installed, with the auxiliary battery connected and the ignition switch to ON.
    • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

      *a Clamp

      Using pliers, expand the clamp.

    2. While holding the clamp expanded, install the steering wheel switch housing with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly and engage the claw.
    3. Return the clamp to its original position.
    4. Connect each connector to the steering wheel switch housing with spiral cable sub-assembly.
  11. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the 2 claws and 4 clips to connect the upper steering column cover.
    2. Engage the claw to install the upper steering column cover as shown in the illustration.

      Install in this Direction
  12. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the lower steering column cover.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.

    2. Install the 3 screws.
  13. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  14. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [07/2022 - ]

  15. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    See step [10/2018 - 07/2022] 8, or see step [07/2022 - ] 8

  16. CHECK STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  17. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to INSTALLATION [07/2022 - ]

  18. CUSTOMIZE POWER TILT AND POWER TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM 
    1. Set the auto tilt away function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [10/2018 - ]

  19. PERFORM TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION 

    Refer to CALIBRATION [10/2018 - ]

  20. ASSIST MAP WRITING 

    Refer to CALIBRATION [10/2018 - ]
