Installation [07/2022 - ]: Procedure

1. Temporarily install the lock nut and tie rod end sub-assembly LH to the steering gear assembly until the matchmarks are aligned.

   HINT: 

   After adjusting the toe-in, tighten the lock nut.

Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

1. Insert the steering link assembly as shown in the illustration.

   Insert in this Direction

2. Align the protrusion of the steering link assembly with the hole of the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly, and install the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly to the steering link assembly.

   HINT: 

   Check that the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly is securely installed.

3. Set the No. 1 steering rack housing bracket to the steering link assembly.
4. Install the steering link assembly with No. 1 steering rack housing bracket to the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 new nuts.

   Torque: 133 N.m (1356 kgf/cm, 98 ft.lbf) 

   NOTE:

   • Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut secured.
   • Make sure to tighten the bolts starting from the left side of the vehicle.
5. Engage the guide to install the wiring harness clamp bracket to the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
6. Install the bolt.

   Torque: 13 N.m (133 kgf/cm, 10 ft.lbf) 

7. Connect the connector.

1. Connect the tie rod end sub-assembly LH to the steering knuckle LH with the nut.

   Torque: 49 N.m (500 kgf/cm, 36 ft.lbf) 

   NOTE:

   • Do not damage the ball joint dust cover.
   • Further tighten the nut up to 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.
2. Install a new cotter pin.

Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

   Install in this Direction

1. Engage the clip (B) to the vehicle body.

2. Engage the clip (A) to install the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly to the vehicle body.
   NOTE:

   Be careful not to damage the lip of the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly.

1. Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering gear assembly.

   	Connect in this Direction

2. Connect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to the steering gear assembly.
3. Install the bolt.

   Torque: 64 N.m (653 kgf/cm, 47 ft.lbf) 

1. Engage the 2 claws to install the column hole cover silencer sheet order shown in the illustration.

2. Engage the claw to close the column hole cover silencer sheet.

   Close in this Direction

3. Return the front floor carpet.

1. Using SST, tighten the tie rod end sub-assembly lock nuts.
   • SST: 09612-24014 
     1. 09617-24011

   Specified Tightening Torque 

   Torque: 74 N.m (755 kgf/cm, 55 ft.lbf)

   *a	Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length

   HINT: 

   • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

     Refer to PRECAUTION [07/2022 - ]

   • When using SST (fulcrum length of 52.7 mm (2.07 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 255 mm (10.04 in.)): 61.3 N.m (625 kgf/cm, 45 ft.lbf)
