Removal [10/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [07/2022 - ]

  2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH 

    See step  1

  3. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the front floor cover LH.

  4. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE 

    See step  3

  5. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst) 
    WARNING:
    • To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
    • To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 air fuel ratio sensor connector.

    2. Disengage the clamp.

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 compression springs and disconnect the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) and tail exhaust pipe assembly.

    4. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.
    5. Remove the 2 exhaust pipe gaskets from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) and front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).
  6. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - ]

  7. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Remove the 3 nuts and No. 1 front floor heat insulator from the vehicle body.

  9. SEPARATE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Remove the 3 bolts and separate the No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).

  10. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Remove the bolt, nut and manifold stay from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) and cylinder block sub-assembly.

  11. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD (TWC: Front Catalyst) 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 7 nuts and separate the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator and exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).
    3. Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).
