Removal [10/2018 - 07/2022]: Procedure

- PERFORM RESOLVER INITIALIZATION NOTE:
If it is necessary to replace the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly, make sure to perform resolver initialization before starting work.

- REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE
Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]
- REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY GUARD
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 31
- INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 48
- DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
- Disengage the 5 clamps.
- Disengage the clamp.
*1 Resolver (Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor) Connector *2 Shift Lever Position Sensor Connector *3 Generator Temperature Sensor Connector - Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect the resolver (transmission fluid temperature sensor) connector.
- Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
- Disconnect the generator temperature sensor connector.
- Disengage the 5 clamps.
- REMOVE HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE
- Remove the bolt.
- Disengage the guide to disconnect the HV air conditioning wire from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
- Disengage the clamp.
- Using a screwdriver, slide the green-colored lock of the connector as shown in the illustration to release it and disconnect the connector.WARNING:
Make sure to wear insulated gloves.
NOTE:Insulate the disconnected terminals and connector with insulating tape.

- Remove the bolt.
- REMOVE STARTER HOLE INSULATOR
- REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER
- REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 8 bolts and engine assembly from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.NOTE:
- To avoid damaging the knock pins, do not pry between the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly and engine assembly.
- To prevent the splines of the transmission input damper assembly from becoming misaligned, do not allow the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly to hit the transmission input damper assembly during engine assembly removal and installation.
- Remove the 8 bolts and engine assembly from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
- REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD
- REMOVE MOTOR CABLE

- REMOVE MOTOR COOLING COOLER
- Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 motor cooling hose from the No. 1 motor cooling pipe.
- Remove the oil cooler union bolt and gasket to disconnect the No. 2 motor cooling pipe from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
- Remove the bolt and No. 1 oil cooler tube clamp from the hose bracket.
- Remove the 3 bolts and motor cooling cooler with No. 2 motor cooling pipe from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.NOTE:
Make sure not to remove the No. 1 motor cooling hose and No. 2 motor cooling hose from the motor cooling cooler as the motor cooling cooler may be deformed.
- Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 motor cooling hose from the No. 1 motor cooling pipe.
- REMOVE NO. 1 MOTOR COOLING PIPE
- REMOVE NO. 1 WATER HOSE CLAMP BRACKET
- REMOVE HOSE BRACKET
- REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET
- REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET
- REMOVE TRANSAXLE HOUSING PLUG
- REMOVE STUD BOLT
- REMOVE UNION
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the union or O-ring is necessary.
