Steering Pad Switch Circuit [10/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Cruise Control / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Cruise Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Cancel Switch CANCEL switch status ON or OFF ON: CANCEL switch pushed
      OFF: CANCEL switch not pushed

      -SET Switch -SET switch status ON or OFF ON: -SET switch pushed
      OFF: -SET switch not pushed

      +RES Switch +RES switch status ON or OFF ON: +RES switch pushed
      OFF: +RES switch not pushed

      Cruise Main Switch Operation Condition Cruise control main switch status ON or OFF ON: Cruise control main switch pushed
      OFF: Cruise control main switch not pushed

      Powertrain > Cruise Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Cancel Switch
      -SET Switch
      +RES Switch
      Cruise Main Switch Operation Condition

      OK

      The value of each Data List item changes according to the operation of the steering pad switch assembly.

    Result:

  2. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022] Refer to REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2018 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [10/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022] Refer to REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

    2. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2018 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [10/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F20 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the F59 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F20-13 (CCS) - F59-14 (CCS) Always Below 1 Ω
      F20-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      F20-13 (CCS) or F59-14 (CCS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Connect the F59 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Connect the F20 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [10/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
