Removal [10/2018 - 10/2020]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]

  2. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  3. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  4. REMOVE LUGGAGE ROOM REAR COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  5. REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  6. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  7. DISCONNECT REAR TRACTION MOTOR CABLE 

    See step  7

  8. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  9. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - 10/2020]

  10. REMOVE REAR TRACTION MOTOR BREATHER PLUG 
    1. Remove the rear traction motor breather plug from the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the rear traction motor breather plug.

  11. REMOVE REAR TRACTION MOTOR CABLE 

    See step  11

  12. DISCONNECT NO. 6 FLOOR WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the resolver sensor (temperature sensor) connector.

    2. Disengage the 2 clamps to remove the No. 6 floor wire from the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.
  13. REMOVE MOTOR CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and motor cable bracket from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  14. REMOVE REAR TRACTION MOTOR WITH TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using an engine sling device and belts, support the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly in the position shown in the illustration.

      Support Positions - -
      NOTE:
      • Do not lift the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly any higher than is necessary.
      • When lifting the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly, check the location of the center of gravity while lifting it.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts, the 2 upper differential mount stoppers and the 2 lower differential mount stoppers, and remove the differential dynamic damper and rear traction motor with transaxle assembly from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

      *1 UPPER DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT STOPPER *2 FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY
      *3 LOWER DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT STOPPER *4 REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
      *5 DIFFERENTIAL DYNAMIC DAMPER - -
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly to fall.
      • When removing the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly, make sure not to damage the installation surfaces.
  15. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front differential support assembly from the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.

  16. REMOVE MOTOR CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and motor cable bracket from the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.

  17. REMOVE WIRING HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and wiring harness clamp bracket from the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.
