Removal [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [12/2017 - 08/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [08/2019 - ]

  2. REMOVE NO. 3 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [12/2017 - 08/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [08/2019 - ]

  3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2015 - 03/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [03/2018 - ]

  4. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  5. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

  6. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [08/2016 - 08/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [08/2019 - ]

  7. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [12/2017 - 08/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 25 [08/2019 - ]

  8. SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY 

    See step  [10/2015 - 08/2016], or see step  [08/2016 - 12/2017], or see step  [12/2017 - 08/2019], or see step  [08/2019 - ]

  9. REMOVE RESERVOIR BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 [08/2016 - 03/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [03/2018 - 08/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [08/2018 - 08/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [08/2019 - ]

  10. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  11. REMOVE NO. 2 EGR PIPE 

    See step  [10/2015 - 08/2016], or see step  [08/2016 - 12/2017], or see step  [12/2017 - 08/2019], or see step  [08/2019 - ]

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 EGR PIPE GASKET 

    See step  [10/2015 - 08/2016], or see step  [08/2016 - 12/2017], or see step  [12/2017 - 08/2019], or see step  [08/2019 - ]

  13. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  14. DISCONNECT NO. 6 WATER BY-PASS HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  15. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 EXHAUST PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (for Bank 1) connector.

    2. Disengage the 2 wire harness clamps.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts, 2 compression springs and front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly from the front exhaust pipe assembly and center exhaust pipe sub-assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

    4. Remove the 3 exhaust pipe gaskets from the front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly.
  17. REMOVE EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  18. REMOVE EGR INLET GASKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  19. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Remove the bolt and nut to remove the manifold stay from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) and rear engine mounting bracket.

  20. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  21. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD (TWC: Front Catalyst) 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 4 nuts and exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) from the cylinder head sub-assembly RH.

  22. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET (for Bank 1) 
    1. Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket (for Bank 1) from the cylinder head sub-assembly RH.

  23. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

    2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
    3. Loosen the bolt (A).

    4. Remove the 2 bolts (B) and exhaust pipe support bracket from the front exhaust pipe assembly.
    5. Remove the 2 nuts and front exhaust pipe assembly from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).
    6. Remove the exhaust pipe gasket from the front exhaust pipe assembly.
  24. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [08/2016 - 08/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [08/2019 - ]

  25. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 
    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 radiator hose from the radiator assembly.

  26. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [08/2016 - 08/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [08/2019 - ]

  27. REMOVE INLET AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  28. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

    2. Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
    3. Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

  29. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER 
    1. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

    2. Remove the No. 1 engine cover.

  30. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  31. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Remove the bolt and nut and No. 2 manifold stay from the exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and cylinder block sub-assembly.

  32. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) 
    WARNING:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

    1. Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 4 nuts and exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) from the cylinder head sub-assembly LH.

  33. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET (for Bank 2) 
    1. Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket (for Bank 2) from the cylinder head sub-assembly LH.

  34. REMOVE STUD BOLT 

    HINT: 

    If a stud bolt is deformed or the threads are damaged, replace it.

    1. Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts (A) from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).

    2. Using an E6 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts (B) from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).
    3. Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts from the exhaust manifold assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).
