Removal [09/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    Make sure to select face mode before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    See step  1

  3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

  4. REMOVE FRONT CENTER UPPER SUSPENSION BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  5. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose.

      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
  6. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  7. DISCONNECT SUCTION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY B 
    1. Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the suction tube sub-assembly B.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the suction tube sub-assembly B.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  8. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  11. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 

    for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column:

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column:

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  13. REMOVE ECU INTEGRATION BOX RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  14. REMOVE STEREO COMPONENT EQUALIZER ASSEMBLY (w/ Active Noise Control System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  15. REMOVE COOLER (ROOM TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connector and aspirator pipe to remove the cooler (room temp. sensor) thermistor.

  16. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL PAD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  17. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  18. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CAUTION PLATE COVER 
    1. Lift the front floor caution plate cover as shown by the arrow (1) to disengage the claw, and then pull the front floor caution plate cover as shown by the arrow (2) in the illustration to disengage the guide and remove it.

  19. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT 
    1. Remove the front floor carpet clip.

    2. Remove the 2 front floor carpet clips.

    3. Disengage the 2 guides and turn back the front floor carpet assembly as shown in the illustration.

    4. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear No. 3 air duct as shown in the illustration.

  20. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 1 air duct.

  21. REMOVE REAR NO. 4 AIR DUCT

    3. Disengage the 2 fasteners.

    4. Disengage the 2 guides and turn back the front floor carpet assembly as shown in the illustration.
    5. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear No. 4 air duct as shown in the illustration.

  22. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 2 air duct.

  23. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET BRACKET RH 
    1. Remove the clip.

  25. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT 
    1. Disengage the clamp.

    2. Remove the clip and No. 1 console box duct as shown in the illustration.
  26. REMOVE NO. 3 DASH PANEL INSULATOR PAD 
    1. Cut each claw of the 2 clips and remove the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad.

      *a Cut
      NOTE:

      If the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad is damaged, replace it with a new one.

    2. Remove the 2 clips.
  27. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage each clamp.

    2. Remove the bolt, nut and No. 3 instrument panel to cowl brace sub-assembly.
  28. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY WITH MAIN BODY ECU 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  29. REMOVE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  30. REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT 
    1. Remove the clip and No. 1 side defroster nozzle duct.

  31. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the relay block holder.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the 4 earth wires.
    4. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the connector holder.
    5. Disengage each clamp.
    6. Push down the part (A) in the direction indicated by the arrow (1), to release the lock, and then move the lock lever in the direction indicated by the arrow (2) shown in the illustration to disconnect the connector.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    7. Disengage each clamp to separate the instrument panel wire.
  32. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.

    3. Remove the bolt, screw, nut and No. 1 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.

  33. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage each clamp.

    2. Remove the bolt, screw, nut and No. 2 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.

  34. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONER UNIT ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Be sure to support the air conditioner unit assembly when removing it. Failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioner unit assembly to break.
    • When disassembling the air conditioner unit assembly, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.
    1. Turn back the front floor mat as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the drain cooler hose.

      *1 Cooler Unit Drain Hose Grommet
      NOTE:

      If the drain cooler hose is disconnected from the cooler unit drain hose grommet, make sure to replace the cooler unit drain hose grommet with a new one. Failure to do so may lead to water ingress.

    3. Remove the cooler unit drain hose grommet.

    4. Remove the 2 hole plugs.

    5. Remove the 3 bolts.

    6. Remove the 4 bolts (A).

    7. Remove the bolt (B) and disconnect the brake pedal assembly.
    8. Remove the nut.
    9. Disengage each clamp.

    10. Disconnect each connector.
    11. Remove the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with air conditioner unit assembly as shown in the illustration.
    12. Disengage the claw and 2 guides to disconnect the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) as shown in the illustration.

  35. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and the air conditioner unit assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.
