Removal [10/2017 - 09/2018]: Procedure

  1. AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL PROHIBITED (w/ Air Suspension) 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2017 - ]

  2. RELEASE PARKING BRAKE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  3. FORCED RELEASE PARKING BRAKE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  5. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24

  6. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  7. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2017 - 10/2023]

  8. PARKING LOCK FORCED RELEASE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  9. REMOVE ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  10. REMOVE REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER LH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  11. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23

  12. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 25

  13. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER RH

  14. REMOVE TOOL BOX

  17. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT ASSEMBLY

  18. REMOVE REAR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER

  19. REMOVE ROPE HOOK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  20. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  21. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  22. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET 
    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the grommet of the electric parking brake actuator harness and pass the connector through the hole to the outside of the vehicle.
    3. Remove the 2 nuts.

  23. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY 
  24. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2017 - ]

  25. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  26. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Support the rear suspension member sub-assembly with an engine lifter using 4 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.
      WARNING:

        The rear suspension member sub-assembly is a very heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.

      • If the rear suspension member sub-assembly is not securely supported, it may drop, resulting in serious injury.
      NOTE:

      Use attachments to keep the rear suspension member sub-assembly level.

    2. Remove the 8 bolts, rear lower suspension member stopper LH, rear lower suspension member stopper RH, rear lower suspension member stopper and rear suspension member sub-assembly.
    3. Slowly lower the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the rear suspension member sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed to the vehicle.

  27. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  28. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  29. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  30. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  31. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  32. REMOVE LOWER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt, nut and lower control arm assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

  33. REMOVE LOWER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  34. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the nut, rear suspension arm attachment sub-assembly, rear No. 2 suspension toe adjust plate and rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  35. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  36. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt, nut, washer and rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  37. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  38. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt, nut, washer and rear upper control arm assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

  39. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  40. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (w/o Dynamic Rear Steering) 
    1. Place matchmarks on the rear suspension toe adjust cam sub-assembly, rear No. 2 suspension toe adjust plate and rear suspension member sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the nut, rear suspension toe adjust cam sub-assembly, rear No. 2 suspension toe adjust plate and toe control link sub-assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  41. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (w/o Dynamic Rear Steering) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  42. REMOVE NO. 4 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 4 exhaust pipe support bracket from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  43. REMOVE NO. 5 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the No. 4 exhaust pipe support bracket.

  44. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT UPPER STOPPER 
    1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member front upper stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  45. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER 
    1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member rear upper stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  46. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION LH 
    1. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion rib.

    2. Using SST, remove the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion LH while applying grease into the clearance between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion LH and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Apply grease to the threads and tip of the SST center bolt before use.
      • Be careful as the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion LH may fly out.
      • The rear suspension member front body mounting cushion LH cannot be reused.

      If the outer casing of the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion remains, insert SST between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly, and then remove the outer casing. SST

  47. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  48. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Using SST, remove the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion while applying grease into the clearance between the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
